Belle & Sebastian are a problematic band. On the one hand, they're largely responsible for the Mumfordization of music (via The Decemberists via cardigan-wave). On the other hand, they were brilliant, original, evocative, and hugely influential in the development of my personal brand (via no friends in college), making the sad young literary prick seem like a viable career option.
